What’s my best bet for a portable PDF reader?

I have no interest in ebooks or browsing the web. I don’t care to use it as a phone, for email, or any other application other than reading PDF and TXT files. A touch screen and/or stylus would be nice for taking notes and/or underlining, but it isn’t important. I’ve been using my Samsung P2 mp3 player to read TXT files, and it works great, but I really want to be able to read PDFs too, so the display has to be big enough for that.

I’ve decided that eBook Readers are too expensive. eInk isn’t worth the price for what I’m interested in. I’ve been thinking about getting a tablet pc with Android, or else getting a cheap laptop with a linux distro. That way I could run Foxit and highlight and annotate my PDFs as I go. My only concern there is knowing how resource heavy PDFs are. Could an old cheap laptop run Foxit efficiently? Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!
Ha. Well Darkphantom, you clearly aren’t my target audience. PDF and TXT are file types often used for digital books, particularly with Project Gutenberg editions. I want to be able to read them when I’m out and about, rather than just when I’m sitting at my computer.

Prices on Ebook readers are dropping all the time, and I suspect they’ll be right at $100 for the holidays. I love my kindle, but it is kind of a one trick pony. My next purchase with be the IPad for sure.
